Leave the digital grind behind = mission impossible!

After this competition: http://www.lomography.com/magazine/competitions/2011/02/25/go-analogue-for-a-day-rumble was started I thought it can’t be bad to live one day without the digital things in the world.

I just realized that this is impossible in the 21st century. When I went to bed I knew somehow I need to get up next morning and usually my mobile phone wakes me up with a nice song. Though I wanted to live one day analogue I activated my alarm clock-mobile phone. Fortunately I was up before my mobile could wake me up and I didn’t needed it. Now could my analogue day without digital things start. I thought.

Going to school and be in school was pretty easy until we watched a movie. I couldn’t just go out and say: Sorry, I can’t watch this because I want to live analogue for one day without technology!
And it just went on and on like this. There some technology, on the other side of the road some televisions. Digital life is just everywhere in our world and here is what I want to say:

Living without technology and leaving the digital grind behind us isn’t really possible in todays world. But you can still swim against the stream and you can do this with using all your beloved film cameras or listening to some vinyl. Analogue has for me just more heart than digital. If you shoot with a digital camera it’s just not the same as if you do it with your lomo. Or does your iPod have those little noises an old vinyl has? I’m sure it doesn’t.

So we should just live with the new technology and the digital things in our life but we mustn’t forget that there is analogue and that analogue is more beautiful than digital!

in this point i really have to agree with you. but i just thougt, why should i wait for a sunny day to live analogue, let me take a normal day. to do this with a normal workday shows you much more how much digitalised our world is. for me it was a very interesting experiment. i mean i have even looked up something in the telephone book since 7 years or something around this.

You at least gave it a try! How can I stay away from technology where I sit behind a computer at work all day, have 3 laptops for only 2 people, a few ipods, 2 tv's in the living room... well you get the idea...

hmmm, i do wonder how i would cope without checking my emails/texts/facebook/twitter/flickr/lomography/watching TV. sad as that sounds i think it would be difficult!

i agree with u i love all the new technology but at the same time i love the past & we should always take the time to remember all the amazing things about it such as film cameras, they will never go outta style.

I agree, but sometimes when I'm on holiday I do get the opportunity to leave technology behind, and that is nice, relaxing.

I think it might be possible to live more simply...

But to give up all technology [such as medicine] would be stupid.

I think the only way to stay analogue for a day (really, without technologies) is just... Sleep all day long! Lol just kidding
