I went analogue for a day

I decided to participate to this rumble and I went analog for a day in a weekend. Here in my home, still have an old TV with all that stuff on the back of the TV. An analog television, nothing digital. I also still have a lot of VHS tapes and a VHS player, so I connected my VHS player with my analog TV and I made an old stile entertainment center hehehe. I watched Naked Gun, I really love that movie. The quality of the VHS wasn’t perfect, but, was good enough for an old VHS.

Back to the early nineties, when started the boom of CD, my father bought a hybrid analog/digital. A Sony stereo system that can go cassette tape, CD and vinyl. Today, I usually plug in my Ipod to it, because the sound quality is extremely good. But I didn’t do that in my analog day. I picked up a couple of old Beatles vinyl and listened it while I was resting and enjoying it.

And, of course, in my analogue day I’ve, obviously, shot some photos with my analog lomo cameras to register this analog day in the proper way. After all of this little analogue adventure, I went to sleep (I slept pretty early in my analog day hehehe)

It was a tough day, I rather not repeat this day again, but wasn’t that bad, and the old fashion technology is still working. A life without digital is possible (not for me, of course hehehe).

What is the difference between having online friends to win a competition or having real friends? I mean, to be a real competition, you will need a judge, otherwise is about who have more (online) friends and divulgation. A lot of people who tried to go analogue didn't made it and i did all the 24h.

If you did it that's great, but you don't need fake accounts to increase the number of likes on your entry. The point is, it makes you look like you have created all these fake names just to get the likes and you are logging onto each of them to vote for yourself. Do you not see that that is wrong?

Excuse me, I had asked for my friends of college, and old high school friends and stuff like that...
So I will ask you again. What is the difference between having online friends or real friends to win a competition???? To be a real competition we all need a judge to chose the winner, not the most liked... The 'most liked' is a competition to "who have more friends?" kind of competition.

No I really think you have missed the point to be honest. On the "happy to have film" rumble, icuresick will most likely win, as he has written a really thoughtful entry which people from all over this community have liked. This not only includes his friends, but also people who do not know him. Therefore, his entry will win the contest on merit alone. It is not a popularity contest for him because there are people who have read his entry, enjoyed it but are not just liking it for the sake of being his friend. icuresick may equally have friends who read his entry, but didn't enjoy it and find it worthy of a like. Therefore it is not a popularity thing.

Tell your friends to upload some analogue photos then...make themselves a part of the community, not just so you can get free votes. I just find it odd that so many of them clicked "like" on your entry within just a few minutes of each other. Are they all synced online at the same time to vote for an article or blog entry? Do you understand why some people may think this is a bit fishy??

A competition is also where a prize is awarded based on preselected criteria. If you did in fact create accounts just to have "invited" friends to join lomography.com and thus won the prize based on that and they were not true "invited friends" then you have falsified your entries. Again, I ask that those people you invited start posting some analogue photographs. If they don't well I guess we will all have to draw our own conclusions....

I get that you can be frustrated about these 'liked most' contests as people with more online friends will usually get a larger audience, and usually a larger amount of people who like their content--but not always. Putting all that effort into making accounts that are completely empty is the same as cheating in my opinion, because you aren't winning based on merit. The Lomography community did not vote you to win, you or your followers offline who contribute nothing to this community won it for you. You should have instead put that effort into advertising your article to the people who would have appreciated it--us. By asking your "friends" to vote for you, you have actually belittled the content of your entry--you could have written nonsense and it wouldn't have mattered, because you assured yourself votes regardless of the work you actually put in.
