My First Best
47 161One day on a lomo-adventure Saturday, I decided that I would try a roll of Fuji Velvia, slide film. I was worried that I would screw it up and put the roll to waste because I didn’t really know what I was doing.
It was a cloudy day, but I figured that the ISO was 100, so I’d be fine. The three of us (nigelk, kayswirl, and I) drove to a rather secluded area by the water and hopped out of the car. We clambered over the bushes and through the itchy grass down to the rocks, sand, and water.
And then, we began shooting. I got a few shots into the roll before I began to let loose, and just shoot. So I put my hand up against the sky and clicked. Then I looked down to the ground and the rocks, click. Whirrrrrr, next photo.
After we finished our film, we drove off. When I went down to the lab to drop off my film, I wrote on the envelope “C-41 process please” I was so anxious to see the results of my first roll of cross processed slide film! Please let it be good, please, please!
And when I finally got my film back, I was blown away. The vivid colors hit me in the face as I flipped through the photos one by one. And then I saw it, the double of the sky, the hand, and the stones. It was perfect, just as I pictured it in my head.
Here’s the complete roll:
