Wapping Woods
written by neja on 2011-03-18 #placesWapping was originally a Saxon settlement. This area was known as a marshland until the 16th century when it was drained. It then became a rich meadow and garden ground until it was acquired for the London Docks. By 1969, the docks at Wapping were empty. Trees were planted and it was optimistically called Wapping Woods. However, the trees could not survive and the result is the small park we have today.

Place de la Concorde, Tuileries Garden and then the Pyramids of Louvre - nothing can beat this experience! Created by Catherine de Medicis as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was first opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution.

A Salute to the Masters: Bare Soles in Como (A Tribute to Christopher Anderson)
written by sirio174 on 2015-11-07The young artist and Magnum photographer Christopher Anderson published on his agency's website an awesome photo series, one of the images in it a great symbol of freedom, joy of living outdoors, purity, innocence, candor, and girlhood: the bare sole of a female lifted up, taken at the Central Park in New York. Like many other great Magnum photographers, Anderson explored this interesting body part through photographs. For this tribute, I chose a series of bare feet images I took along the promenade of the lake Como. Take a look!

Jardines de Turia
written by neja on 2010-11-16 #placesThe Gardens of Turia (Jardines de Turia) in Valencia is 9km of greenery surrounded by ancient walls and buildings. As this place has always been prone to floods, it actually got severely damaged back in 1957 that even a number of people lost their lives and most of the city was ruined. Because of this, Valencia decided to divert the course of the river paving the way for the birth of this lush garden.
