A weeks ago I got a black Canon AE-1 Program. I gave her a cleaning and changed all the sealings. I wanted to test her because the Canon AE-1 Program was the first camera I owned when I was 18. This expired Kodak Gold 200 shows some pictures of Rueggisberg, a cat in my garden and a nice and not very known place of sandstone caves at the Belpberg which is very close to my hometown. I also tested new Canon FD lenses which I git also in December. The Canon FD 100mm 1:2, Canon FD 35-70 1:2.8 and Canon FD 100-300mm for the cat pictures. all lenses performed excellent.

This is a great camera, with a nice bright viewfinder. However, I prefer the Canon AV-1, more light, shooting in aperture mode priority. I use mainly only one lens, my trusty 50/1.8 - I love to see the world with a standard lens (from 42mm of my Olympus 35 RC to 58mm of my Helios on Praktica cameras). This is the most natural way of seeing for me (I use telephoto mainly for sport photography, rugby) otherwise I prefer to walk toward the main subject with a standard lens.

I know that it is great camera. The first I ever had and used it for many years. With a 50mm you could never ever make this picture. This cat is so shy that even when I used the 100-300mm in 300mm and tried to get closer she ran away as you can see on the picture. Every lens has it right for certain situation or themes. Otherwise they would not have been builded, bought or used. I love also the Canon FD 35-70 mm or the 35-105mm lenses.
