My much loved Cherry 1461 Docs. Over the years they have seen quite a bit of action and walked me through the happiest days of my life.

  • The House That Jack Built

    shared by eyeseaimages on 2023-09-05

One of the landmark buildings of my corner of the universe. I am not sure exactly how much input Jack had on this magnificent example of 1970’s architecture. However, my Godfather was one of the engineers that worked on the project. As fate would have it, from 2013 to 2016, this very building became my workplace. Despite multiple makeovers, fit-outs and refurbishments, I felt like I was living in the 70’s every time a walked through the turnstile and took the stairs to the 3rd floor.

    shared by eyeseaimages on 2023-10-10

This unique building is just around the corner from where I live. Ever since I moved into the area I have been fascinated by its peculiar design and puzzled to what it’s originally purpose was. Although Dr Robert didn't run his medical practice here, in the days of the Kensington village, the building was home to the local pharmacist. The street facing door and window are the shop front to the medical dispensary. Like many of the historical properties in my neighborhood, the building has been preserved and converted for residential use.

Keeping this to an analogue flavor, this image is inspired by the humble ‘compact cassette’. An ancient format for audio recording and playback :P

I have been trying to get a photograph of this quaint old church high up on the hill for a number of years. Despite the numerous challenges one needs to encounter to reach the destination, the biggest obstacle by far is Pastor Boosey who guards his dominion with the fierceness of a cut snake. It was an early Saturday morning, towards the end of spring, I once again found myself at the edge of the churchyard, camera in hand, waiting for the opportune moment to sneak in to complete my mission. I think I had taken about half a dozen exposures when from nowhere the Pastor’s wrath descended. With screaming profanities that would make sailor blush and bad breath that turn milk sour, it was time to leave. Hurried along by some unknown object hurled at me, missing me by millimetres, I successful made my escape. Back in the safety of my darkroom far, far away from the wrath of Pastor ‘full of Boosey’, I pieced together the exposures I had captured into the image presented here. Like many of the other triptych’s I produce the photographs are presented in a slightly different sequence that they actually appear in reality.

  • The Banker's Motor Car

    shared by eyeseaimages on 2024-04-09

Around the corner and down the lane, the Banker’s motor car is a common sight in my neighbourhood and what a motor car it is! With its unconventional airplane inspired styling, distinctive crackle pop-pop exhaust note it very much the inspiration of many jokes amongst the children. Pictured here, the Banker’s beloved Sonja SAAB awaits a service and tune from our marvelous maestro mechanic Zeppi Zep of Giuseppe’s Golden Guzzoline while Polly Percy’s Cadillac receives a wheel align. Sonja SAAB requires constant fettling to keep her foul mouthed two-banger two-stroke motor on song. Special thanks to the camera repair technician and the team from PhotoCo Adelaide for sorting out Ollie-O Pen Super S. As with many snapshots I have taken using the 24 x 18 mm format, apologies, I loathe the term ‘half –frame’, the images are photographed frame by frame to create a panoramic scene. For this series ‘Giuseppe’s Golden Guzzoline’ the images have been designed to be viewed in a complete sequence as presented via the link below: https://www.lomography.com/homes/eyeseaimages/albums/2455506-giuseppe-s-golden-guzzoline The whole is very much greater than the sum the parts!

  • Super Van!

    shared by eyeseaimages on 2024-04-09

Faster than a speeding bullet, More powerful than a locomotive, Able to spin tyres and leave plumes of smoke with a single drop of the clutch, It’s Super Van! I am not much of a van fan. However, the weathered textured appearance of this old banger caught my eye - enough to commit it to film! Aficionados of the Ford Transit van might not take too kindly to the cut and shut treatment I have done to create the image but might enjoy the modifications presented in the short video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg6WdboK1nY Perhaps some of our community members from the UK can remember the actual Super Van back in its heyday? The Australian variant of the Transit, the model photographed here, received a few ‘improvements’ for the local market. The V4 power plant was given the 'arse' and the locally produced 250 cubic inch ‘Falcon’ in-line 6 was shoehorned into place.
