How did you get into photography?

My first exposure to Lomography was back in 2008, when a friend brought a Holga camera for our Phuket trip. I remembered being blown away by the colors and effects in the photos. However, it wasn’t until 2010 that I started dabbling with photography when I started collecting vintage rangefinder, SLR and Polaroid cameras. From there, I added the Lomo LC-A+ and Lubitel 166+ to my collection and as they say, the rest is history.

Which topics do you normally like to shoot?

The topics are mostly my friends and architectures during my travels and on special occasions.

How would you describe your photography style?

It's point and shoot; to capture a memory of a place or an adventure with my friends. And Lomo cameras allow me to capture images with a twist that I wouldn’t be able to get out of conventional cameras. I really enjoy playing with MX and color filters in my photos.

Tell us more about why you do film photography.

Im going to quote Forrest Gump here “Life is like a box a chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” It’s exactly how I feel about film photography; I love the surprise when I develop a roll of film. Also, consciously I have to be more selective with my shots and I tend to be too trigger happy in the past with digital camera.

Among your Lomography cameras, which one is your favorite and why?

Among my collection of Lomography cameras, the LC-A+ is my favorite. It suits my style, just grab and shoot. I don’t need to worry too much about settings during day or night.

Can you share with us some of your favorite film photos? Any story behind them?

L-R Photo Titles- Angkok Town, Exit Here | Photos by spkbxxx | Camera: LC-A+

The story behind “Angkok town” photo was I had read up on the double exposure article on the lomo site. So before I left for my trip to Cambodia back in 2012, I asked my buddy for undeveloped roll of films he had used earlier in Hong Kong. I was going in blindly and hoping for the best. Im just happy with how the shots turned out and “Exit here” is another photo from that series that im really happy with.

Any memorable stories during a shoot that you can share with us?

I can't think of any good stories now but I think in essence, each photo captures a moment in time and reminds us of the little things that happened along the journey to that moment.

How was your experience using Lomography cameras? Any highlights and/or lowlights in your experience shooting?

In the beginning, I made quite a few rookie errors of not loading the film properly. It was a pity to receive blank rolls but you will pick up some tips and tricks along the way and there are always ton of information and inspiration for projects you can find on the Lomo site. The Lomography community is a great source of information.

Anything you'd like to say to your fellow Lomographers out there?

Just go out and shoot to your heart’s content and not worry about how the photos are going to turn up. The mystery is the best part of shooting film.
