A man who has too many in his plate but is still able to consume them, let us meet this week’s Community LomoKino LomoAmigo.

He is no stranger in this Community as he wows us with his amazing Lomographs! Coming from Canada, John Weed or weedos in our Community is here to have his time with the LomoKino!

Know more with our interview below. Enjoy!

Full Name: John Weed
Lomography Username: weedos
Location: Sherwood Park and Edmonton, Canada

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your intereststs?

I’m a parent of two awesome teenage boys [who are also both] awesome Lomographers. I work in a web design/development and I bar tend for part time. I am a volunteer-aholic who has been lucky enough to get to travel for the organizations I volunteer for. I’m an avid cyclist and I never have less than three cameras with me.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

I bought my first Lomography camera(s) in 2001 and have been shooting on and off ever since. I joined the Community right away but I’ve only been really active since 2009.

Some Lomographs from weedos.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Tiny, movie, joy, …are three words OK?

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

I love it. It’s this silly inoffensive in your face camera that brings a smile to your subjects face.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

I used to shoot a tonne of video both personal (kids when they were little) and for a comedy troupe I was working with. As I started getting back into film, my interest in digital video waned. This was the perfect opportunity for me to start shooting [n film] again.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

Just the usual looks you get when you pull out any analog camera these days. The “you still use film?" face.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

My Grandfather used to work in Africa and India in the 1950’s. I would love to have been able to follow him around and document that. I’d also love to try a music video, maybe The Levellers, or Gogol Bordello. Any takers?

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

I love this piece. Maria really took it to the next level here.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

I’d like to actually shoot something with a bit of a story. While I’m honored to be chosen for this piece, I really don’t think anything I’ve done with the LomoKino thus far is worthy of anything more than a ‘nice try.’ I’ve been trying to get my kids to write me a short movie idea or perhaps do some stop motion with it.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Play and have fun, we aren’t all going to be famous in fact most of us won’t be but that shouldn’t stop you from loving what you do and having fun doing it.
