Vicuna's Travel Stories | Burkina Faso: The Land of Upright People

When someone asks me why I love Burkina Faso so much and what's so special about it, I answer without any hesitation: the people. There's something in this country that connects the people together very strongly. Here, foreign visitors are warmly welcomed. And honestly, I think that the portraits I'm most proud of and that I really love are those shot in Burkina Faso. "Why," you ask?

  • LomoChrome Turquiose being abuse by me and light.

    shared by alienmeatsack on 2015-04-11

LomoChrome Turuoise, shot EBS and from 100, 50,25, etc until I either ran out of film or my exposure times got into the 3-4 second range. Yep, this film still rules. I love how when the 'redscale" side of the film gets enough exposure, it gets more light blue tinted And if shot at just the right combo front and bank, you get fire burning in the shots. Fun times!

  • Both sides of the daily life

    shared by hodachrome on 2012-06-27

Exposing both sides of the film (EBS). I shot on correct(normal) side first in a sunny/bright day, at ISO400(ISO800 film inside). Below half of the lense was masked with a splitzer. After finished a roll, reverse the film (in a dark-room). Then start shooting on redscale side in a cloudy/rainy day, at ISO200. Upper half was masked with a splitzer. The order of each location is precisely the same as 1st shots. I took notes in details about locations and shot all places with iPhone, to remember locations. Need patience, concentration, and accuracy for this challenge. Plus must be careful with 'gaps' between frames. This one is almost perfect. Have a look at my article about this technique: http://www.lomography.com/magazine/tipster/2013/01/14/tipster-how-to-take-symmetrical-images-with-exposing-both-sides-of-the-film-ebs

  • Panorama EBS at Stonehenge #1

    shared by buckshot on 2013-02-02

I woke really early and drove 100km to be at the ancient, mystical ruins of Stonehenge by sunrise. It was a frigid morning (3°C) with a bitter wind, but at least it was clear, with plenty of sunshine. I approached the 'exposing both sides' (EBS) technique the same way as described in my first panorama EBS album here: http://goo.gl/ChwbE The only difference was that I had a changing bag with me this time, so I could flip the film onsite from the redscale side (which I shot first) back to the normal side. I froze my ass off out there, but I think it was worth it for these results. Hope you like 'em too...! :-)

    shared by litumai on 2013-09-03

so, decided, i like the results best with bright shining sky (iso100), in hazy low sunlight (iso 400) the colors dont come out so purple or turquoise. For pictures shot directly at the sun iso 50 should work best, i used 100 and it looks a little overexposed to me. Hope this helps. Green turns purple, and purple turns green! just love the colors and effect!
