Reviewing the Truprint 200 35 mm

9

Some friends of mine were clearing out some stuff at their house and found in the bottom of a drawer a bag of assorted films, an APS camera and lots of other bits and bobs.
Knowing I am a photography addict, they decided to feed my addiction with the offer of these miscellaneous photo items. I obviously accepted their offer, and later that day I had finished my first choice of the films they had given me in my beloved LC-A +.

This film I had chosen was a Truprint 35mm film that had caught my attention because it was 9 years out of date. Being a 200 ISO film, it was perfect for the shooting conditions as it was a sunny day at the beach. I was eager to see the results so I took the roll to the lab the next day.

When I received the film back and started to scan it, I was refreshed at the contrast of the shots. Previous attempts at shooting with the expired film have resulted in dull grainy shots that are enough to put you off photography, however, these shots seemed to give new life and new hope to expired film (in my opinion). Whether I was just lucky with the lighting or whether this film does mature with age, I don’t know, but I fell in love with the colours this film produced. The contrast was perfect as well giving beautiful highlights of colour here and there.

With the sun setting over the sea, I could tell this would be a film I would love to use again, however with this film being so old, if I managed to get some more, I would have to wait 9 years for it to be in its prime like this. Thankfully I have one more roll of this film at my disposal, so I’m waiting for the perfect occasion to strike.

I would advise anyone who finds this film to buy it and use it on a bright day. It will not disappoint.

I have two rolls of this that I was given for free by a guy at a car boot sale.
I'm not sure how expired it is though as it doesn't seem to have a expiry date on it... just says use within 24 months so for all I know it could be any age lol.
I'm going to test it out in my LC-A ones I finish off this roll of slide.

I will put the link on here when I eventually get it done. :)
