Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.
In year 2007, I only knew this Lomography thingy while window shopping at One Utama Shopping Complex. I’m interested with their effects especially with the Colorsplash camera. In that time, I was a student and didn’t have enough money to buy myself a camera. In my 19th birthday, one of my friends gave me an Action Sampler. I was so excited to use that camera and the results were very satisfying. After that, I’ve collected Lomography cameras until now.
In 2008, I still remember that it was on August 25, LSI picked my LomoHome as ‘LomoHome of the Day’ or LHOTD. That time, I’ve been rewarded 50 piggy points (yeay)! Another memorable experience that I know was last September, I bought myself a Lomo LC-Wide. This is an amazing camera for me. And in my opinion, analogue never dies.
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends?
YES! Here in Malaysia, there are a lot of talented people when it comes to analogue photography. I’m very amazed with Ariff’s (ripsta) results. Also, he got a lot of cameras in his room. I know he loves analogue photography so much. Other Lomographers are Iskandar (eastmoe) and Hanif (hanifmaidin). They both are very inspired and every analogue photographer or Lomographer knows them. I myself ask them help about Lomography. Furthermore, I’ve considered all Lomographers in this world as my close friends as long as they know who I am.
Do you think you’ll still be taking lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?
Definitely yes! I really appreciate every shot that I’ve took using Lomographic cameras especially the LC-A. Analogue photography will never die because we need to show to our child or grandchildren how amazing analogue are. We should always precious it.
What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
It’s hard for me to answer this question. I love all my Lomo cameras. But ok, for me, the Lomo LC-A is my favourite. This ‘old school’ camera never lets me down. This was my first fully manual compact camera. Before this, I didn’t know how to handle and control aperture. After I owned myself a Lomo LC-A, I’ve learned about it.
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
Never stop with analogue photography. It’s okay if you know nothing about it for we in this Community will share our knowledge to each other. Also, welcome to analogue world!
