Aquapix Waterproof Camera: Wonderful Photos from a Cheap Plastic Camera

16

The Aquapix Waterproof Camera is just a simple plastic camera with plastic lens, but it surely won’t disappoint you! Let me tell you and show you why after the jump!

Last month when all in a sudden my family announce to go on a vacation in Perhentian Island, Terengganu, Malaysia I desperately go out to find a waterproof camera that could snap good, underwater pictures. I’ve heard about the waterproof Aquapix Lomo, and with my tight budget I think the camera would be perfect.

With the help of some friends, I found a gift shop that sell Aquapic Lomo for only RM30 (USD9). With so many colours to choose, I went confused but at the end I picked yellow colour.

This camera is very simple with fixed aperture and focus. Here are some specifications:

  • 28mm lens, f/9
  • Shutter speed : 1/100
  • Use 35mm films
  • No flash

This camera comes with a waterproof casing which is detachable. It could dive up to 3 metres. This is some pictures taken during my underwater trip. I use “Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 ASA”: Both camera and film did not disappoint me.

I took some photos without the waterproof case too. And I think the camera is quite good. I love the plastic lens.

I'll need to get another one as the previous one I bought online for my Perhentian trip was faulty. The casing wasn't 100% waterproof. What a bummer :/ You got it from the gift shop with orange logo right? I heard that they have it there.

@j3ssicac yes, that gift shop. actually i have problem with mine too. i cannot advance the film when the waterproof case is on. so everytime i want to take new photo i have to open the case, advance and close the case again. :/

anyone tried one of these with different speed film? It doesn't specify in the instructions... I was thinking of maybe 200 or even 400 iso (I'm guessing 400 iso would overexpose, even in UK ! )
