Vienna at Christmas Time

I was very happy to stay there, of course, but coming from Nice, on the Cote d’Azur, where the winter temperature is nevre going under 10°, I was a little bit surprised of the cold and wet weather in Austria during this season.
When I was first discovering Vienna 9 years ago it was around Christmas Time. I was very happy to stay there, of course, but coming from Nice, on the Cote d’Azur, where the winter temperature is never going under 10°, I was a little bit surprised of the cold and wet weather in Austria during this season.
So I took my camera and walked a little bit to discover the city, mostly inside the “Ring” area and my fingers where so frozen (and of course, I forgot to take gloves), that it wasn’t easy to shoot for me … But slowly, I got used to it. The daylight was going down slowly, revealing the lights of the city: what a wonderful feeling tho see all these Christmas lights in this cold atmosphere. I understood the magical Christmas mood of a real cold winter night in Vienna. The Christkindlmarkt looked wonderful and the hot & spicy Cinnamon Wine or other “Strohrum” brought back a lot of warmth in my body and I was ready to walk all the night in the city and to take a lot of pictures.
So, just an advice: come and visit Vienna during Christmas to understand what a magical moment it could be in the cold and wet Austrian winter!
