Lomo’Instant Quick Shots: Adriana Brioso

There are so many exciting things you can do with the Lomo’instant camera, it’s hard to know where to start. We’ve been giving this lovable Lomo camera the full test drive so that you can experience the full potential of this camera in an instant! Here are some top tips on shooting graffiti and doubles with our UK intern Adriana Brioso.

On a night out with friends we had a lot of fun taking all kinds of crazy multiple exposure portraits with the Lomo’Instant, so here are some photos and tips to go with it! We were in a semi-dark pub, but any sort of indoors environment should work well. General tip to recreate these: shoot with MX on.

1 – Lightpainting portraits: Take the portrait photo first with flash, on normal mode. Then turn the flash off, switch it up to Bulb and aim at some lights (the more colourful the better) and open that shutter, moving the camera around for 1 sec or so before releasing it.

2 – Double Exposure portraits: Flash on, normal mode. Get close to the person you’re shooting. Agree on what side you’re doing first (left or right), since it’s all about how you frame it, and go for it! It’s really easy to get right.

3 – Multiple Exposure portraits: Flash on, normal mode. Group shots needed a bit more of art direction and careful framing, but there’s a lot of room for experimenting. You can do all sorts of stuff like move the camera around as you switch from person to person, different angles and ranges – the crazier the better. The important thing is to remember where you shot each person as to not overlap the faces and lose the effect (and even then you can get some cool stuff out of that).

4 – Don’t forget to adjust the range as you go and always have MX on (turn it off when you’re done with each photo for it to come out and then put it back on)!
