Summer Hotspots: My Holiday in a Camping Beach
1 9 Share TweetLast month, I went to a camping site lined by stretches of water and surrounded by a pine forest. I had vast spaces for leisure as there were only a handful people about.
Since childhood I’ve spent many holidays camping by the beach. I absolutely love the freedom of the outdoors. This year, I chose a camping site in central Italy, on the border between Campania and Lazio. It is also near Baia Domizia, a seaside town built in the ’60s. I chose to visit in July, much less crowded than August.
There were very few people; the beach looked almost like a solitary retreat. I brought my Olympus 35 RC, a small rangefinder camera with a very sharp lens. I photographed a young woman and some hawkers with their wagons and bags of goods.
On my last day I took photos of a hang glider. The scene greeted all sunbathers by the beach!
The following photos show a team of young engineers working on an anti-flooding project. They were trying to save their sand castle, threatened by the late-afternoon tide.
The boys eventually left the castle at the mercy of the waves. There is another day to build a better castle after all!
