22

The past few weeks were an exciting time for film – prices were reduced, and new ones were introduced. And there’s no stopping us! Now we bring you two emulsions suitable for your analogue experiments – the Lomography Redscale XR 35mm and Lomography Redscale XR 120!

For the first time ever, Lomography introduces a redscale film with an extended exposure range. What this means – more creative control and unlimited possibilities! These special-effect emulsions allow you to tweak the ISO settings to produce different effects, so whether you want your photos to glow brightly in warm red tones, or wish to inject a bit of cool blues into your images, it’s all possible in just a single roll of film! What’s more, it’s available in 35mm and 120 film formats to give you more choices!

Can't you do this with any redscaled film?
But putting that aside, the low iso effect does look amazing!

@sidblack: you can of course, like with probably all color negative films, as long as it's just some few stops. but the material for the XR gives the biggest range (as far as i have experienced)

hmmm, pardon my question, but how can I shoot with different ISO settings with Holga? the only way would be to use light metering and develop accordingly, as I see it, or am I forgetting something here?

@diana&holga: just use it like standard 200 film to achieve redscale effects, use "B" mode and be quick in daylight to get the "low iso" effect

Does anyone know if this film is DX coded? I shoot an Olympus XA3 and would love to try this, but because it reads DX film automatically I'd like to know if it would be possible to shoot at low ISO first...

  13. mandi
    mandi ·

yes, it's DX coded. but you could just tape the DX code of the film and set it manually on the XA3

(i don't know why i'm answering all questions, it's not that i want everyone to buy the film, i don't even like redscale thaaat much! :)

Haha, I don't normally like redscale but I love this!

I had no idea you could do that but of course it makes perfect sense. Genius. I want.

can you shoot different ISO's through out the roll?

I like the lomo cameras but the film is a wast of money. Redscale your own film for a lot less. Fuji Superia 400 redscaled and then shot at 25-100 iso is good or Fuji Superia 800 shot at 50-200 iso works well for fixed shutter speed cameras like the Dianas and Holgas.
