An Infrared Winter—Photos by @grandphilippe

8

As you browse through @grandphilippe’s photos, you can easily tell that this photographer likes color. Not just any color, but rich colors. Deep reds and blues, vibrant yellows and greens—brought about by color negatives, slides, and color-shifting films. Occasionally, he’d take a break with black & white, but it’s his color photos that seem to jump off his LomoHome page that will demand your attention.

Even in the presence of glaringly white snow in winter landscapes, @grandphilippe introduces pops of vivid colors, as seen in these photos he took at the Alps. He used a Fujifilm GA645W with an expired Kodak Aerochrome film and a Yashica orange filter. He shares:

Winter is coming. Two days of snow, ascent to the Col des Échelles in the direction of the Green Lake, which we will not reach, the road is slippery, the paths too snowy. For two days, aerochrome Kodak film has been loaded into the GA645w. A photo in the undergrowth, one at the lake long ,2300 m , in bright sunshine, the rest at the Col des Echelles with a view of the Clarée valley. This is my second film with this rather extraordinary film …… I was looking for red on white, the contrast of sky and rock…
