Foamlabbers as LomoAmigos #3: Eelke

Seven young photography fans in one creative team – meet our newest Amigo’s Foam Lab. You know Rosa and Erik already, so here is foamlabber #3 – Eelke Mol!

Eelke Mol

Name: Eelke Mol
City: Amsterdam
Country: The Netherlands

Tell the community a little bit about yourself? What do you do for fun and is it the same thing you do for a living?
In my spare time I like to take pictures with different kinds of cameras. I also like discovering street art in the city. I am not making money with these things (yet), but I work at a photo agency which I love! So actually I do make money doing what I like :)

How did you end up being a Foamlabber and what is your experience so far?
In the beginning of 2011 I applied for a spot in Foam Lab. I was really happy when I heard I was admitted! Until now it has been super fun with the other Labbers, even when we are working hard (and that happens quite often). Everyone is really dedicated to organize the events we create as well as possible. I get so much energy from that!

How long have you been a Lomographer or are you new to this whole thing?
Before Foam Lab I wasn’t into Lomography yet. I was already into analogue photography, but that is not the same obviously ;)

How does an average day of Eelke look like?
I get up (a little too late sometimes) and I make myself a smoothie. Then I leave to go to Solar Initiative (my job) or Foam Lab. After work I hang out with friends, go running (I am training for the Dam tot Damloop) or I curl up with a book. But that doesn’t happen so often anymore..!

You take excellent snapshots! How do you capture such snapshots and would like to reveal your secret snapshot method?
I always take a camera when I go somewhere. When I find myself in a unique or funny situation, I am able to capture the moment.

How did you like shooting with Lomography camera’s and what did your friends think about your analogue cameras and photo’s?
I had a lot of fun trying out all the different cameras. My friends would give me weird looks when I pulled another strangely shaped object from my bag, claiming I could take pictures with it. But as soon as they knew how it worked, they liked it a lot!

What was the strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter you had while doing the series?
The strangest one was the curtailed white cat in the window sill. I had never seen anything like it!

If you had to choose, which is your favorite photo from the selection and why?
My favorite is the Supersampler photo with the hand in the sun. That photo reminds me of those few beautiful days of this summer.

If your photo selection should have a soundtrack, what would it be? (3 songs title & artists please)
I’m Free – The Rolling Stones
Coma Cat – Tensnake
Do You Love Me – The Contours

What else is on the agenda for you? Anything you are looking forward to you would like to share?
I want to do so much! I am contemplating a course in photography, but I’m not sure where and when that will be. Also, we have a lot of plans with Foam Lab. And I really want to figure out how to create videos.

Your advice to future Lomographers is?
Always take your camera wherever you go, because you never know!
