Make Your Very Own Waterproof Lens Case!

Looking to protect your precious lenses during trips or shoots while in transit? Then create your own lens case!

We know how it feels to get your previous lenses dinged up with a smack on the counter top or on any hard surface. It just makes you cringe or worse, it could damage your lens!

It’s a good thing we spotted this quick DIY lens case tipster you could follow to keep your lenses safer on shoots and trips!

You’ll need:

  • 2 Identical plastic water bottles (author *marcellahella* says it’s better to use flat bottomed ones)
  • Foam or sponge
  • Zipper
  • Dental floss or durable thread
  • A pair of scissors
  • Safety pin
  • Needle
  • Rubber inner tube

Steps:

1. Cut the plastic bottles into shape. Measure your lens before you do this bit.

2. Punch holes on the plastic bottle with the safety pin. This will serve as your template when you sew the zipper along the edges of the bottles.

3. Sew the zipper on the case while following the holes you punched in the bottles.

4. Cut the foam and place them inside your case.

5. Waterproof it with the inner tube. (Author’s note: make sure it’s a tight fit to avoid leaks.)

And voila! You’ve got yourself your very own upcycled lens case!
