Going to Eat Horse Meat in Catania, Italy
written by icomewhenieatcaponata on 2011-03-08 #placesLast Saturday I went to Catania. We got there to buy some reptiles but the main purpose was actually to go and eat horse meat. It was a long way, I live in Palermo which is at the northern coast of Sicily and Catania is at the far east side of this island, but in some ways it was worth it.

Papeete, the Big City of French Polynesia
written by vicuna on 2009-10-23 #placesIf you have the chance one day to visit French Polynesia, the city of Papeete will be the first place you'll see and visit. If you expect the mythical image of Tahiti, you'll be disappointed, because it's not the right place for this! But there are other things to see...

Sagrada Familia
written by wil6ka on 2008-05-09 #placesI haven't had so much experience with South-Europe so far. I was always more attached to the east and far-east. But Barcelona certainly changed my mind about what there is to expect from the south. I mean we don't even have to mention the food! I live with a Spanish girl and she constantly gets the finest oil and ham from her parents. And we don't have to mention the weather, I rather not, I live in Hamburg!

written by neja on 2012-06-18 #placesCascade Country Manors, a luxurious lomographic gateway in Western Cape. The reason we went to stay at Cascade Manor was because my friends wanted to visit Nabygelegen Vineyards because it was one of the few places producing the Pinot Noir they were so found of.

Haas Design Collective, Cape Town
written by neja on 2012-06-20 #placesHaas: coffee and art. When I lived in the colorful area of Bo-Kaap 7 years ago, I couldn't imagine finding SUCH a place there at all. But all these years later, things have changed for the good. Bo-Kaap is an area of Cape Town, South Africa formerly known as the Malay Quarter. It is quintessentially a Township, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town.

Le Saut du Loup restaurant, Paris
written by neja on 2011-12-21 #placesOne of the most spectacularly located restaurants in the entire world. It was our last few hours in Paris, and we were desperate to dine somewhere around the Louvre. But it had to be a place which served Pomerol wine, there were no doubts about that. I didn't know why, but my partners did insist on that.

Wepler Restaurant, Paris
written by neja on 2011-12-19 #placesGreat wines and oysters in the darkest part of Paris. We were recommended to go to Wepler by some Parisian gallerist that I know. She assured me it was the best place for fish. Queues at the door upon our arrival suggested a gem, and that couldn't have been farther from the truth.

Boots & Flogger Wine Bar
written by neja on 2011-03-21 #placesNot a Sado Maso experience, but fine wining and dining. Boots & Flogger is a place of tradition. Some waitresses have worked here for 35 years already. I once came here when one of them was retiring. She showed me pictures from the old days when she was still young and just started working here. They were two friends and another lady was still going to continue. I wonder, how many bottles of wine they had together during those years.
